Biografía
Ever since South London’s quartet-collective Breton’s impressively casual drift from film making to the release of their new album War Room Stories, their mission statement has been clear; Breton passionately and constantly create.
Ahead of supporting the incredible Haim sisters at Mallorca Rocks on 3rd June and Ibiza Rocks on 4th June 2014, they embarked on a headline UK tour culminating in a show at Village Underground, Shoreditch. Here’s what it looked and sounded like:
Breton roll straight into fan-favourite Got Well Soon moments after arriving on stage and it quickly becomes clear that we’re in for a high-octane display; From that point onwards, while succinct in their approach, they twist and turn through styles and genres with a casual slight of hand that explains why tonight, Village Underground (a sizeable London venue) is at full capacity. As they burst through their collection of vibrant floor fillers, pulsating synthesizers interject boisterous drumbeats, expertly placed guitars are laced with irresistible vocal lines and the band's ability to take a song from atmospheric cinematic sequences to instantly likable hooks really becomes apparent.
Although they stay true to their studio sound, Breton’s live show is on another level and what’s more, their performance levels do not falter one bit as we escalate through Indie-Club belter, Envy (where understandably the energy in the room soars) and wind up satisfied and buzzing, in the aggressive Synth/Hip-Hop/Grunge influenced December.
Breton deliver on so many levels; this is dancey, experimental, visually spectacular and incredibly catchy Indie-dance music.
