Radiohead Stages Second Surprise Webcast
After much anticipation, Radiohead staged a second surprise Webcast on
its official site Thursday night.
This time around, the group could be seen sitting around a fire, spinning
discs, dancing, flashing signs and drawings, and jamming live in the studio.
The bandmembers also kept in contact with viewers via the site's official
message board, although the messages soon scrolled off as word spread and
fan posts poured in.
Drummer Phil Selway, guitarist Ed O'Brien, and bassist Colin Greenwood
handled most of the DJ duties this time around as they spun their favorite
discs. Selway also jammed in the studio with singer Thom Yorke and guitarist
Jonny Greenwood, who provided some noodling on the keyboards later on.
The broadcast ended with the group debuting a new song which appeared to
be called "Everything In Its Right Place;" a message posted by producer
Nigel Godrich referred to it as "Assing Around Big Time."
The producer also noted that guitarist O'Brien had inadvertently forgotten
to air some of the many demos sent to him after he had expressed a desire
to use the group's online events to debut new material by indie acts.
O'Brien had sent out a call for demos in his diary on the band's official
site (www.radiohead.com) following the group's first Webcast in December
(see "Radiohead Makes A Surprise Net Appearance").
Godrich added that the demos will probably be posted as MP3 files in the
near future.
The bandmembers appeared on monitors at 6:15 p.m. (ET) and stayed until
just after 10 p.m. (ET), and the appearance marked the group's last gathering
in the studio prior to taking a week off.(MTV)

...me ha coincidido ver el webcast de radiohead, que pasada, mola que
la gente haga esas cosas por los fans, se me cortaba de vez en cuando,
pero bueno, se me corto en medio de la cancion y estaba grabandola, pero
la verdad es que estaban un poco improvisando, thom se paseaba por el medio
del estudio mientras los otros tocaban, luego colin y ed estuvieron pinchando
musica con dos platos y tal, y pusieron mucho jazz y musicas latinas y
muy ritmicas, algo de soul, que bueno, y luego jhonny estuvo "jugando"
con una de esas makinas que hacen sonidos estrañisimos, sabes esas
cajas de efectos analogicos...que guay, estaba el solo delante del bicho
y se le iba la olla, y no se aburria.... richy
En la madrugada del 10 al 11 de febrero de 2000,
Radiohead volvia a hacer un WebCast con todos los miembros de la banda
intercalando las funciones de Djs y musicos. Jonny, Colin, Ed & Phil,
pusieron su música favorita en platos preparados para la ocasión.
La banda interpretó una especial jam session con una canción
desconocida; una cancion Techno de Jonny y para finalizar con otro tema
desconocido que se piensa pueda ser "Everything's in it's Right Place".
El WebCast duro aproximadamente 4 horas. Hubo colapso de la red durante
la conexion... Todos los que accedieron a Pirate TV o a Real Player pudieron
ver y oir a Radiohead desde no se sabe donde.

Environ 1000 personnes étaient connectées, et beaucoup d'autres
tentaient leurs chances, dans la nuit du 23 au 24 mars sur la "Pirate TV"
du site de Radiohead pur assister au troisième webcast du groupe.
Au programme : Thom et Jonny aux platines. Images des DJ en actions, visite
du studio, et ouevres de Stanley Donwood, l'artiste résident du
site. se relayant pour une programmation écletique, Thom et Jonny
ont assuré le spectacle jusque tard dans la nuit, aux environs de
quatre heures du matin(pour un début vers 11 heures !). Le webcast
s'est terminé par la venue de tout le groupe et Nigel sur le message
board du site.
Le moment fort de la nuit a été la chanson inédite
joueé par le groupe en direct dans le studio : "I wish I were".
Le style est surprenament très différent des autres titres
inédits interprétés lors du précédent
webcast. "I wish I were" est beaucoup plus rock et direct. En conclusion,
toutes spéculations sur ce que serait le style du quatrième
album ne pourrait être qu'hasardeuse. Ou formulé autrement,
Radiohead ne s e trouve jamais là où on pense les trouver
et que nous devons nous attendre à être encore surpris. (Laurence
