ROCKFOUR
El grupo israelí RockFour se une al exquisito catálogo de
Rainbow Quartz. Una refrescante y fabulosa mezcla de pop de guitarras y
neo-psicodelia de primer orden que ha vendido más de 30.000 discos
en Israel y Europa. Lo que hace especial a este grupo es que, más
allá de formar parte de un estilo que une a todas las bandas del
sello, mezcla elementos de Moody Blues, Julian Cope, Teardrop Explodes,
The Zombies, The Buzzocks, Bowie y la ELO. Resulta admirable como RockFour
convierten esta suma de influencias en un sonido absolutamente contemporáneo.
Guitarras de 12 cuerdas, mellotron, sitar y efectos psicodélicos
decoran las fantásticas canciones del disco, todas ellas arropadas
con unas letras llenas de sensibilidad y buen gusto.
Rock Four han sido calificadas como una de las mejores bandas en directo
del momento, con una potente puesta en escena y con una sofisticación
envidiable. ¡Extremadamente recomendable!
ROCK FOUR
RockFour, from Tel Aviv, Israel are new to the Rainbow Quartz lineup.
A fabulous refreshing blast of neo-guitar pop psychedelia of the highest
order, they have sold over 30,000 records in Israel and Europe. What is
so special about this band is that rather than sounding like the other
bands on the label, they inhabit the same genre but traffic in a slightly
different blend with elements of the Moody Blues, Julian Cope, Teardrop
Explodes, The Zombies, The Buzzcocks, Bowie & ELO. What an amazing
thing it is to be able to marry The Byrds & Bowie with panache and
bring all these elements into the 21st Century. They are set to release
a compilation of two records with Rainbow Quartz, 'Supermarket' and 'One
Fantastic Day,' previously released on the Israeli label Earsay.
Live, RockFour are a revelation. The band rips through an electric set
that has the guitarists alternately chiming like Roger McGuinn and displaying
atonal lazer-punk leads like Andy Gill of Gang of Four, with the band harmonizing
like the Hollies and Beatles - this combination of pure pop and avante-psychedelic
rock is incredible, at times reminiscent of Bowie or the Church. What a
true pleasure and treat!
