Este descanso necesario llegó después de estar 6 años sin para de tocar y sacar 3 discos y un EP acústico.
El grupo está formado por los amigos de la infancia Tyson Vogel y Adam Stephens, que se conocieron en el colegio a los 5 años de edad. A pesar del desacuerdo inicial sobre la supremacio de White Lion vs. White Snake, han sido los mejores amigos desde entonces.
Han estado tocando juntos desde 1994, cuando sus padres cometieron el error de regalarles a los dos una guitarra eléctrica en Navidad. Hacía 2001 formaron Two Gallants en el sótano de casa de Vogel. Con el paso de los años, el duo ha visto augmentar su volumen y su equipo. 
EL sonido de la banda es algo así como un sincretismo de las raíces Americanas con el Grunge y el Punk de East Bay.
La última actuación que dieron fue el Fillmore de San Francisco en diciembre del 2008. En estos dos años, ambos han editado discos bajo el nombre de The Devotionals y Adam Haworth Stephens, respectivamente.
Ahora están deseando voler al ruedo y al ruido estridente que les ha llenado durante 6 años a lo largo de todo el mundo.

 TWO GALLANTS REUNITE AFTER A TWO-YEAR HIATUS!
After a two-year break, the San Francisco guitar-drum duo TWO GALLANTS will begin touring again this summer across the North America and Europe. The well-needed time off came after six years of incessant touring and the release of three full-length studio albums and an acoustic EP. The band consists of childhood friends Tyson Vogel and Adam Stephens who met on their elementary school playground at the age of five. Despite an initial disagreement and ensuing scuffle over the supremacy of White Lion vs. Whitesnake, the two have been best friends ever since. They have been playing music together in some capacity since 1994, when their parents made the mistake of giving them both electric guitars for Christmas. Around 2002, the two college dropouts found themselves with some time on their hands and silence to kill; and so with an acoustic guitar and a trap set they formed TWO GALLANTS in the basement of the Vogel residence. In an ongoing unspoken competition to out do one another, the intervening years have seen the two-piece increase their volume and gear ten-fold. The bands' sound is somewhat of a syncretism of American old-timey roots music with the grunge and east bay punk of Tyson and Adam's formative years. The last show they played together was headlining The Fillmore in their hometown in December 2008. In the two years since, both have released solo material under Devotionals and Adam Haworth Stephens, respectively. But now they are looking forward to getting back to the haranging strident noise that fueled them across the world for six years. Come see TWO GALLANTS perform in a town near you this summer and look forward to a new album in the not too distant future.

Toman su nombre del 'Dublineses' de James Joyce para, como aquel, hablar sobre la condición humana. Y aunque editan en Saddle Creek, no les cuesta cargarse al responsable del sello, nada más y nada menos que Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes). Sus dos crudas entregas y también sus ardientes shows en directo  (auténticos arrebatos de quejío rock que tiran de espaldas) nos han noqueado a todos a una: el enfadado "What The Toll Tells" (06) y, sobre todo, el injustamente olvidado "The Throes" (04) demuestran que el añejo blues del Delta del Mississipi también puede ser exhumado desde la oscuridad y la furia. Si Devendra Banhart lo recupera con gracejo y muchas flores, ellos se lo sacan de las entrañas manchado de sangre. 
Amargos y violentos, Two Gallants desgranan un country de latido punk (¿o folk de latido grunge?) con el que manejan la poesía eléctrica como Bob Dylan. Aborrecen las tendencias y lanzan líneas secantes hacia los estandartes más lejanos de la americana de raíces (John Fahey, Harry Smith), trazos tangentes hacia referentes más contemporáneos como The White Stripes o The Black Keys, y ángulos paralelos hacia los vértices de Nick Cave y Skip James (ambos habían hecho suya la tradicional 'Crow Jane' con la que ellos también se han atrevido). Two Gallants pueden con todo.
