Procedencia Baltimore, MD, USA in 2004
Bio: Kepler is an unsigned alternative rock trio based in Baltimore,
Maryland. Their debut release, "Iota of the Sky", set to be released in
mid-September of 2005, was recorded and produced by the band independently
during the hot, summer months of 2005. The track listing consists of 12
original songs including such crowd favorites as "Pure?", "A Clear Roman
Night", and "The Quill's Mistress".
Singer/guitar player, Mark Roman, and guitar player, Keeve Brine, met in
late 2002 when they co-founded Spindrift, an expired local, independent
rock band. Scott Allender, drums, and Josh Daughaday, bass, joined the
band within a few months, but different personal and musical goals push
the four to disband by early 2004. Brine and Roman, a proven songwriting
team, were determined to continue with their pursuit of their musical aspirations
together. After a few days of brainstorming of the split, the idea of Kepler
was born as Brine and Roman decided to venture into a new territory. With
bands such as The Police, Nirvana, Cream, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience
as their model and influences, the two wanted to instigate and renew the
impulse of the 'power trio'. Brine eagerly picked up the bass guitar and
within weeks of Spindrift disbanding, Brine and Roman began writing new
songs under their new alias, Kepler. After months and months of looking
for the right drummer, the two discovered Isaac Brandes and brought him
into the Kepler family in spring of 2005. Recording of the trio's debut
CD began immediately, which has come to be titled, "'Iota of the Sky".
"Iota of the Sky" is a well-rounded introduction of Kepler's capabilities
and talents. On this album, you will find the lyrics to be refined, cultured
and often an example of a prophetic or intuitive hallucination that is
only experienced in one's wildest dreams. The text and poetry of each song
serve as escorts through narrated thoughts, accounts, and short stories,
which will unshackle the listener's imagination and promote limitless interpretation.
While the poetry constructs visions that echo theories, the music concurrently
builds within itself in an almost polyphonic style to attest innovation
through inspiration. Descriptive, pulsing, percussion rhythms merged with
lively, melodic bass then completed with rich, divergent guitar components
provides a three-part force that uniformly propels each song through musical
grooves of a special nature.
