Los cinco años de carrera de Stand Still empiezan a confirmarlos
como una de las bandas más potentes de nuestro país. A través
de cambios de formación y de una sólida trayectoria en directo
cierran el año 2000 con la esperada edición de "The ionic
spell", su primer larga duración y al mismo tiempo su debut con
Bcore. Ya habíamos podido disfrutar de ellos en estudio con su primera
demo "Progress self-destruction" y con el mini-CD "The tide", editado a
través de Heart in Hand de Madrid y DIY Product de Badalona. "The
ionic spell" sabe recoger toda la energía de esas grabaciones y
canalizarlas a través de canciones perfectamente elaboradas, contando
con la excelente producción de Xavi Navarro y la grabación
de Santi García en los estudios Locate-0 para sonar contundentes
como nunca.
Sus conciertos junto a bandas como At the drive in, Abhinanda, Submission
Hold, y sus giras, no solo estatales sino por toda Europa (Francia, Bélgica,
Holanda, Alemania...) acompañdos por Sheregano, E-150, Seein Red
o Children hacen además que su directo sea uno de los más
sólidos en la actualidad. Su reciente gira por Alemania junto a
Monochrome no solamente lo confirmó sino que además les abrió
las puertas para que el sello Defiance se ofreciera a editar "The ionic
spell" en vinilo.

Five years on the road are starting to prove that Stand Still are one of
the most powerful Spanish abrasive hardcore/emocore bands. Through line-up
changes and hundreds of live performances they end up this year 2000 with
the long awaited edition of "The ionic spell", their first long-play album
and their debut with Bcore disc. We already had the opportunity to enjoy
them with their first demo "Progress self-destruction" and the mini-CD
"The Tide", released through national Heart in Hand and DIY Product labels.
"The ionic spell" picks up all the energy from those releases and puts
it together in perfectly built up songs, with a brilliant production by
hardcore-guru Xavi Navarro and recording by Santi García at Locate-0
studios to make them sound stronger than ever.
Their shows with bands like At the drive in, Abhinanda, Submission Hold,
and their tours, not only in Spain but all around Europe (France, Belgium,
Netherlands, Germany...) together with Sheregano, E-150, Seein red or Children
make their live performance one of the most solid you can see today. Their
recent german tour with Monochrome not only proved that quality but also
opened the doors to the german label Defiance, which is going to put out
"The ionic spell" on vinyl.

"Ya hace unos años que los miembros de Zeidun habíamos formado
otras bandas juntos (Ariadna, Rain Still Falling, Cain, etc.) pero nunca
ninguna de ellas llegó a tener unos propósitos demasiado
serios. En Abril del 1998 Albert, Xavi, Joan y Mau que tocábamos
en Rain Still Falling decidimos cambiar algunos instrumentos y formar un
grupo para hacer música que nos saliera realmente de dentro y experimentar,
así que nos pasamos todo el verano probando sonidos y dejándonos
llevar por la psiconáutica musical en el local de ensayo. A diferencia
de las anteriores bandas los temas iban tomando un estilo más melódico,
pero intenso a la vez.
Supongo que los grupos que directamente más nos han influenciado
a la hora de componer han sido Saidiwas, Rusty James, Karate, Leiah, Getupkids,
Active Minds, Nofx, los Bravos, When Darkness Falls, etc. entre los más
importantes .
A finales de verano dimos nuestro primer concierto en Sant Celoni y a partir
de entonces empezamos a tocar por varios sitios (Barcelona, Sant Celoni,
Breda, la Roca, Platja d'Aro, etc...) con bandas como Songs for Emma, Maine,
Maple, Red Sexy Band, When Darkness Falls, Portobello Bones, At the Drive
In, Leiah...
En mayo del 2000 grabamos estos 6 temas que han sido editados por Bcore
Disc y Ozonokids.
Los planes para el futuro inmediato son ir a grabar a principios de noviembre
7 temas que se repartirán entre distintas ediciones de los sellos
Bcore disc, Tralla, Ozonokids y alguno más... y en diciembre hacer
una pequeña gira con Maple (nuestra banda hermana) por el norte
de la península. Nuestro objetivo básico es que nuestras
canciones hagan pensar, reaccionar, saltar, llorar, etc., es decir, que
lleguen al máximo de personas y lo más intensamente posible.

ZEIDUN Some years ago the members of Zeidun used to play together in other
bands (Ariadna, Rain Still Falling, Cain, etc.), but none of those never
really had a serious goal. In April 1998, Albert, Xavi, Joan and Mau, who
were playing at that time with Rain Still Falling, decided to change some
of their instruments and play the music that really came from their hearts
and experiment. So they spent the whole summer trying to find out new sounds
and let some kind of musical psycho nautical flow around their rehearsal
place. The songs were developing a more melodic and intense sound than
the ones from their previous bands.
The main influences in their composing style have been bands like Saidiwas,
Rusty James, Karate, Leiah, The Get Up Kids, Active Minds, NOFX, Los Bravos,
When Darkness Falls, etc. amongst others.
At the end of summer they made their first show in Sant Celoni, and then
they started playing in several places in Barcelona, Breda, La Roca, Platja
D'Aro, etc. with bands like Songs for Emma, Maine, Maple, Red Sexy Band,
When Darkness Falls, Portobello Bones, At The Drive In, Leiah...
In May 2000 they recorded this 6 tracks put out by Bcore Disc and Ozonokids.
Their immediate future plans consist of the recording of 7 tracks to be
put out in different editions of labels like Bcoredisc, Tralla Records,
Ozonokids and some more, and also a little tour in December with Maple
(their blood brothers) around the peninsular north coast. Their main goal
is that their songs make people think, react, jump, cry, etc.; in other
words, touch as many people as possible and in the most intense way.

Oswego "Just getting warmed up" Oswego nació del aburrimiento, de
la falta de habilidad musical y de la desorientación en general.
Aparte de eso, nació de las cenizas de Chris Going To School, Kerosene
454 y Death Merchant. En verano Chris Turco empezó a tocar con Darren
Zentek. Esto marcó la puesta en marcha de Oswego; las dos horas
gastadas en el sótano de Easley Place. Esto fue durante la primera
etapa percusiva de Oswego, cuando los únicos instrumentos eran una
paella de hierro y un par de viejas New Balance. Después de un poco
los dos habían alcanzado su límite y llamaron a Erik Denno
para ver qué podia hacer con toda esa historia, y éste cogió
una cuchara sopera y les acompañó... La cosa empezaba a funcionar.
Pero todo dió un vuelco una noche en casa de Mike Markarian, cuando
estàbamos con Mike y éste nos preguntó que qué
estàbamos haciendo jugando con un montón de vieja chatarra.
En ese momento vimos las carencias de nuestros esfuerzos, y pedimos a Mike
y sus instrucciones infinitas que nos llevara por el camino correcto. Recuperamos
nuestras guitarras, Darren desenterró su batería del sótano
y empezamos a rockear. Y el rock nunca sonó tan bien. Silver Spring,
había estado curiosamente invadido hasta entonces por músicos
de jazz hambrientos. Quién hubiera dicho que harían falta
los esfuerzos de estos chicos para limpiar la ciudad! Silver Spring es
bàsicamente DC, así que como podéis imaginar había
mucho por limpiar. Los chicos contactaron con un amigo de toda la vida,
Jay Robbins, para que nos ayudara a poner las cosas en su sitio. Los estudios
Inner Ear presenciaron la primera grabación de Oswego en otoño.
Poco después, Oswego contactó con otro viejo amigo, Jordi.
Éste dijo "Sabéis que España necesita...!Oswego!"
y Oswego dijo "!Sí!". Lo que ahora tenéis en vuestras manos
es el producto de dicha grabación Ahora los planes de Oswego estan
abiertos. Todo puede ocurrir, y tengo la extraña sensación
que ocurrirà.

Oswego "Just getting warmed up" Oswego was born out of the ashes of boredom,
lack of musical ability, and general misdirection. Besides that, it was
born out of the ashes of Chris going to school, Kerosene 454, and Death
Merchant. In the summer of the mysterious forest Chris Turco started playing
with Darren Zentek. This marked the onset of Oswego. The two spent hours
in the Easley Place basement. This was during the early percussive stage
of Oswego when the only instruments were an iron skillet and two old New
Balance. After a while the two had reached their limit and they called
in Erik Denno to see what he could make of the whole thing. He grabbed
a soupspoon and joined in. Things were starting to pick up. But it all
turned around one night at Mike Markarian's house. We were all hanging
out with Mike and he said 'Man, what the hell are you guys doing? Playing
around with a bunch of nasty old crap?' At that point we saw the faults
in our efforts. We asked Mike and his infinite direction to come lead us
down the right path. We repossessed our guitars, Darren dragged his drums
out of cellar, and we started to rock. And rock never sounded so good.
Silver Spring had up until that time been oddly overrun by bar starved
jazz musicians. Who knew that it would take the efforts of these (up until
recently lost) boys to clean up the town. Silver Spring is basically DC,
so you can see that there was a lot of cleaning up to be done. The boys
contacted a long time friend, Jay Robbins to help lay everything down for
good. Inner Ear recording studios saw the first Oswego recording in the
fall of the vile giblet. Shortly after this, Oswego came in contact with
another long time friend Jordi. He said, 'You know Spain needs... Oswego!'.
And Oswego said, 'Yes!'. What you now have in your hands is the product
of said recording. Now Oswego's plans are wide open. Anything and everything
can happen, and I've got a funny feeling it will.

El encanto de los singles de vinilo de siete pulgadas no escapa a los amantes
de la música. Por esa razón Bcore disc lleva apoyando este
formato desde sus inicios, dándole un lugar destacado entre sus
publicaciones. Y no solamente en el caso de bandas nacionales, sino también
en el de prestigiosos grupos extranjeros que han querido trabajar con Bcore,
dando lugar, en el periodo desde 1998 a 2000 a un buen número de
excelentes singles, llenos en muchos casos de canciones inéditas,
prensados a menudo en vinilos coloreados y con tiradas muy limitadas, que
convierten estos pequeños tesoros en botines buscados por los coleccionistas,
y, por lo tanto, hoy día, ya muy difíciles de encontrar.
Algunas de las mejores bandas norteamericanas del momento, como Bluetip,
The Dismemberment Plan, Juno o The Capitol City Dusters, o ya desaparecidas
como Kepone o June of 44 han querido participar en las ediciones en single
de Bcore obsequiándonos con fabulosos temas exclusivos. También
lo mejor de Europa, de manos de los suecos Fireside o los Holandeses NRA,
figura en el catálogo de siete pulgadas; y, como no, y a modo de
guinda, uno de los mejores grupos nacionales: Aina.
Pero hay un par de inconvenientes: se trata de vinilos agotados en muchos
casos; y además, como todos sabéis, con los vinilos hay que
levantarse a menudo para cambiar de cara. Pues bien, ya no hay de qué
preocuparse. BCORE SEVENS 1998-2000 recoge en un solo CD remasterizado,
de diseño exquisito, todos esos trabajos; trece temas, nueve bandas,
seis singles recopilados para poder disfrutar de todos ellos por primera
vez o con la agradecida comodidad del CD, con toda la información
acerca de las grabaciones, ediciones y otras curiosidades que hacen de
este CD una adquisición obligada para todo seguidor que se precie.
Tan solo hace falta echar un vistazo al listado de bandas y canciones,

The charm of the seven ?inch vinyl singles is well known by any music lover.
For this reason Bcore disc has been supporting this format from its start,
giving the vinyl single an outstanding position amongst its releases. And
not only in Spanish band releases but also in renowned foreign ones who've
been working with Bcore. From 1998 to 2000 the label has put out several
excellent singles, most of the times full of unreleased songs and often
pressed in colored vinyl, in very limited editions, what makes them little
hard-to-find treasures, tenaciously searched by collectors. Some of the
best today's American bands like Bluetip, The Dismemberment Plan, Juno
or The Capitol City Dusters, or no longer active bands like Kepone or June
of 44 have taken part of Bcore's singles editions presenting us with wonderful
exclusive tracks. The best of Europe, from the Swedish Fireside or the
Dutch NRA appear in the seven-inch catalogue; and of course one of the
best Spanish bands: Aina.
But there are a couple of problems: most of them are out of stock and
out of print, and, as you know, you have to get up often from your seat
to turn on the vinyl records from one side to another. Well, these things
are no longer a problem. BCORE SEVENS 1998-2000 puts together in one remastered
CD with exclusive artwork all those tracks. Thirteen songs, nine bands
and six singles to enjoy for the first time or simply have them in CD comfort
and quality, with all the information about the recordings, editions and
other curiosities that make this CD a must-have. You just have to take
a look at the bands and songs, push play and enjoy your listening.
